Bio

J.D. is a board-certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy and earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Ohio University in 2012. He enjoys working with patients with musculoskeletal pain and has a special interest in treating runners and individuals with foot and ankle injuries. In addition to treating patients at The Edge, Dr. Sheppard is a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor in the DPT program at the University of Vermont. Throughout his career J.D. has served in several rolls including APTA Maryland President, sports residency faculty member, clinical instructor, and clinic manager. J.D.’s passion for teaching and mentoring led him to complete Duke’s Faculty Development Residency in 2024.

In his free time J.D. enjoys traveling and spending time outside with his dogs.
